Summer 2005

Ferno Scoop Stretchers placed in service! This Device Enables EMS Personnel to place stretcher underneath patient without rolling or lifting the patient. Immobilization in the position found minimizes the risk of complicating the original injury. This is especially useful for Pt's with severely painful fractures such as a fractured hip. Minimizing movement of the fracture minimizes the pain. For more information on this device click on the picture.

Spring 2005

Life Pack 12 Defibrillators are put into service.

A Grant from Senator Joseph Bruno helped NGAA with the purchase of 3 Life Pack 12 monitors. This now allows Paramedics at NGAA to get a better diagnosis of cardiac conditions which can be relayed to Doctors at the emergency room. This allows Doctors to begin treatment immediately without waiting for this test to be performed in the ER, therefore increasing the chances of reversing the condition. An open house is planned for late summer to inform the public about this exciting technology. For information on these devices see the following link or click the picture above. http://www.mhf.net/mall/stores/medtronic/

Fall 2004

NGAA and Wynantskill FD agree to dispatch protocols.

In order to attempt to cut down on the total number of calls the ambulance handles the officers of both departments met on several occasion to decide which "fire" related calls did not require an ambulance to be immediately dispatched. The goal is to relieve some stress on the agency and volunteers. Calls such as basement pump outs and frequent fire alarm activations of unoccupied buildings are examples of calls not typically needing an ambulance. With the exciting growth going on in our town it is anticipated that the ambulance could handle well over 1000 calls per year.

In an effort to help build the future of our agency and our community's youth, we have recently began talking with the Boy Scouts of America about sponsoring a Venturing/Explorer post. This will offer the opportunity for young men and women ages 14-20 (must have completed 8th grade) to experience what we do and to give back to their community.  We are very excited about this!
